Ab Exercises – the Facts for Sexy Abs

Ab exercises are one of the most popular, and yet, most controversial topics in the exercise and health/fitness industry. Hundreds of ab belts, ab gadgets, ab gimmicks, and ab exercise machines have flooded the exercise market for people looking for sexier and flatter abs… that sexy six-pack abs appearance that everybody wants.

The problem is that most of the ab exercises that are recommended all over the internet, and in magazines, etc, are not necessarily the best method to get that six-pack abs appearance. First and foremost, the most important aspect for great looking six pack abs is losing the extra stomach fat that is covering up the abs. To be honest, most people already have decent abs underneath, yet the six-pack is simply covered up by all of that extra flabby belly fat.

Instead of focusing so much on ab exercises to make your belly flatter and more like a six-pack, you will lose much more abdominal fat by focusing the majority of your workout time with special combinations of high intensity full-body, multi-joint exercises. The best exercises for losing that sloppy ab fat are the exercises that work the largest portions of the body at once.

Exercises that work the much larger muscle groups of the legs, upper and lower back, and chest give you the biggest metabolic bang for your buck in terms of ab fat loss. Combining these types of big multi-joint exercises in high intensity super-set, tri-set, or circuit fashion gives you the biggest fat-burning and metabolism boosting response from your workouts.

And that is one of the best kept secrets for flat sexy abs that are actually visible as a six-pack!

Now when it comes to ab-specific exercises, another mistake most people make is mindlessly pumping away with hundreds of crunches and other meaningless abdominal exercises that barely give your abs much resistance to work against. If you want to actually develop your abs to the best extent possible, don’t waste your time with exercises that you can do more than 20 or 25 reps… that means you are definitely not doing an exercise that provides enough resistance to the abs. Exercises that give you enough resistance to get you down into the 6-15 rep range per set works great for the abs.

Generally, higher resistance ab exercises that provide a much larger stimulus to the abdominals come in the form of exercises that involve raising/curling the legs and pelvis either upward or inward closer to the trunk. A couple great examples of these higher resistance ab exercises are hanging leg raises or knee raises using a “pelvic curl up”, or an exercise like lying hip thrusts. Many times, the same people that can do 80 or 100 crunches, can’t even complete more than 2 or 3 properly executed hanging leg raises, because they simply have never worked the abs under heavier resistance.

If you really want tighter flatter abs that look like a six-pack, remember that losing that extra stomach fat is actually the MOST important part. Also, when it comes to ab-specific exercises, always remember higher resistance exercises that involve curling/raising the legs and pelvis upward or inward are what develops the abs to the best extent possible.

For Ripped Abs Quick You Have to Lift Some Weight

If you want to get yourself a set of ripped abs quick you are going to have to put in some hard work. Your current overall level of fitness will go along ways to determining just how fast you can whip your abs into shape. The greater your level of body fat the longer it will take because until that layer of fat is gone your six pack will be comfortably hidden.

The burn away that fat layer you need to crank up your metabolism and there is no better way to do that then by building muscle. Here’s the catch though, you can’t just exercise specific body parts. Doing abdominal exercises will not get you what you want. You need to burn fat and to do that you need to do what is called complex movement strength training.

Your entire body is a complex system of muscle, bone, nerves, ligaments, skin, and cells that are all interconnected and lend support to each other. No where is this better seen then with your muscles. Isolating muscle groups during a workout does not support this goal. Your body’s musculature works along a kinetic chain which means that as you move different muscle groups are brought into action to support a complex movement.

If you isolate muscles by doing single joint exercises you increase your risk of injury not to mention a body that is not nearly as strong and functional. You want all your muscle groups to work together and single joint movements are not the way to make this happen.

Let’s look at the crunch, one of the most well known ab exercise. It does a good job of working your abs but that’s about it. Most people experience some sort of back pain when they do this exercise because this movement is creating a muscle imbalance. In fact many people over work their abs to the point that they begin to suffer from chronic back pain. This type of weight lifting movement also does little to burn that excess body fat that’s hiding your abs.

The best way to get a lean powerful body is by using complex movements when you exercise. If you notice most everyday tasks require you to move in a variety of different directions as do most athletic events. It takes all your muscles working in conjunction to support all this movement so it only makes sense that exercising in the same fashion would be beneficial.

The other thing that complex movements such as squats, dead-lifts, and lunges do is strengthen your entire core. Your core muscles are all those muscles that connect your upper body to your lower body and include all your abdominals, your back, and hips. These muscles stabilize your body and working them as a group creates a strong and powerful core.

Complex movement training also works hundred of other muscles in your body including some of the largest such as your quadriceps and hamstrings. You will burn large amounts of calories not only during your workout but also after your workout because increasing lean muscle mass leads to an increased resting metabolic rate. You will also stimulate the production of growth hormone and testosterone which increases muscle growth and fat reduction.

Getting your self a set of ripped abs quick will take some hard work and dedication, but the results will be worth it. Just remember that your abs but a part of your overall muscle system and you need to work the whole system for fast results.

Abs Exercises That Tone Your Stomach Fast

There are tons of gimmicks out there that promise to tone your abdominal muscles quickly but do nothing beneficial for you at all…

The best way to build up washer board abs is to do some good old fashioned work outs. Now I don’t mean lay down on your floor and start doing crunches… If you aren’t doing the abs exercises right; you will have little to no results to show for all your hard work.

Although many people think that having rock solid or sexy abs is next to impossible it’s actually not that hard… And it doesn’t take that long to start seeing results either.

Some people just assume that you need to spend long hours at the gym to see any real results; and this just isn’t true at all.

There are a few things to always think about when working your abdominal region… Firstly, you need to know how to exercise efficiently.

You first need to master technique and then you can move into resistance and weight training to see maximum results in the shortest amount of time.

Focus more on free weights rather than machine exercises; this will give you a much more cut look instead of just a smooth look… Unless of course you’re going for a nice smooth look.

You also need to know which workouts work which muscle groups; your abdominal muscles are made up of many sections so it’s important to know so that you can give yourself the right amount of time for recovery.

You should only be working the same muscle group every other day… If you work the same spot every day, your muscles will never recover and you’ll actually get weaker.

You’ll also have to eat healthier if you want truly fast results… You need to eat lean portions of protein and always plan your meals out ahead of time so that you can be sure of your portion sizes.

You may think that you don’t need to do this if you’re going to build muscle but you actually do need to lose weight to build muscle even if you’re already thin; you have to burn off that layer of fat over your abdominal region no matter how thin it is…

The main thing to always keep in mind is to never give up. Like everything, getting the perfect set of abs is a process that takes self discipline and hard work; just stick with it and you’ll get your desired result.

Workout Exercises to Flatten Abs, Achieve Core Fitness and Reduce Lower Back Pain

Why should you care about muscles you can’t even see? The answer is, among other reasons, to flatten abs, eliminate back pain – particularly lower back pain – and achieve core fitness.

By now you are probably familiar with “core training” or you have at least heard the term used on TV or in various fitness publications. Your “core” refers not just to the abdominals, but your entire trunk musculature, including those deep muscles you can’t even see (like the Transversus Abdominis, or TVA).

Back pain is one of the biggest complaints of men of ALL ages, and many women suffer from it as well, especially during and after pregnancy. You see a weak core, combined with other problems such as tightness in certain muscle groups, lousy form and poor selection of exercises is one of the leading causes of lower back pain. The good news is that it’s largely preventable with a few easy exercises.

There’s more. Your core is also the seat of power for your entire body. If you’re an athlete – recreational or competitive – core strength means better performance on the playing field. If you’re a non-athlete, greater core strength means more efficient and safer performance of regular day to day activities. If you know anyone who blew out their back lifting boxes or simply doing work around the house you know what I’m talking about.

About 15 years ago, I was diagnosed with a herniated disk, and at one point a neurosurgeon told me I should be on the lookout for “foot flop”. This is when the nerves in the leg go numb to the point where the foot literally drags on the ground and, he explained, that surgery was imminent and unavoidable. I was fairly freaked out. An alternative therapy was an epidural injection of steroids which, after just one treatment, did provide relief.

I knew that a lifestyle change was in order and fortunately, I was able to rehab my own back without ever going under the knife, thanks to a ton of flexibility work and some intelligent abdominal training. Once you rupture a disk you can rehab to a remarkable degree, but it’s something you always have to be cautious about.

Anyway, in the last few years since I started to use core training methods, and not just the traditional “bodybuilding-style” routines, I’ve seen a greater improvement in my lower low back than ever before. If you haven’t started doing any ball work or core training yourself, I would definitely urge you to look into it.

The reason I’m mentioning core training today is because of the availability of home core fitness programs that do not have to break the bank. In fact there are unique programs available that do not focus on traditional advise such as killing yourself with mind numbing sit ups and crunches.

Looks for programs that offer levels to progress through, as not all of us are ready for the more advanced core training techniques. Level progression from beginner up to “athlete” is ideal. Note that some of the exercises are a lot more challenging than they look in the pictures. You have to try them to appreciate them. Many of them can be done with just your body weight. Others require a stability ball (swiss ball), and a handful can be done with a cable apparatus you’d find in any gym.

So get started on a program that creates core fitness through a workout program that will flatten your abs and reduce lower back pain.

Fastest Way To Lose Belly Fat

What is the fastest way to lose belly fat?  If you have researched the fastest way to lose belly fat you will have found already that crunches, leg raises and most other strictly abdominal workouts are not the best exercises to lose stomach fat.

Both men’s and women’s magazines are always advertising the latest in flat stomach workouts, comprised mostly of abdominal exercises that will just shift stomach fat.  Truth is, workout the muscles that lay beneath the layers of stomach fat.  The same holds true for arms, love handles and most other areas where fat collects on your body.  Experts have proven that spot training does not work.  The fastest way to lose belly fat has nothing to do with working out your abdominal muscles.

The first step in the fastest way to lose belly fat is to realize the truth about spot training and save your energy for the real flat stomach workouts.  But what is the fastest way to lose belly fat?  The best exercises to lose stomach fat are the ones that ignite your body’s fat burning mechanism by working out all of your muscle groups or the larger ones in your body.  Theses can be split into two categories:

1: Cardiovascular Exercise

If you really want to find the fastest way to lose belly fat then cardio exercise is important.  Cardiovascular workouts include running or jogging, swimming, cycling, boxing skipping, rowing and many; many more are the best flat stomach workouts. They are effective because they work out the large muscle groups as well as your heart and lungs, which have to work hard to keep you going.

There is some debate over which form of cardio workout is the fastest way to lose belly fat.  High intensity over a short period of time, or longer duration with a lower intensity.  Through research you may discover that the longer duration at a lower intensity, combined with the information in the next section is the best form of cardiovascular exercise.

For starters let’s say at least 30 minutes of low intensity cardiovascular exercise at least 3 times a week, although more is better.  There is a lot to learn when it comes to cardiovascular training as flat stomach workouts, but the information is available.

2: Weight-Training Larger Muscle Groups

It is equally important for men and women and essential if you are looking for the fastest way to lose belly fat.  Muscle mass is incredibly metabolically active – meaning that muscle mass burns calories throughout the day and even while you are sleeping.  The issues with dieting and even the cardiovascular exercise is that you will lose both fat and muscle at the same time.  If you lose muscle, your body’s metabolism will decrease and this will make it harder for you to lose weight.

Weight training is the best way to avoid this.  Losing stomach fat will get easier and easier as you gain more muscle.  If you are a woman, you have nothing to fear, as you can gain plenty of muscle mass without ending up looking masculine or even adding bulky muscles on the outside.

The largest muscle groups in your body are found in your legs, your back, and your chest.  The fastest way to lose belly fat is through building these muscles and watching as your metabolism burns away the fat to nothing.  The best flat stomach workouts when it comes to weight training are, squats, bench-press and lat pull downs.
